How to Find Abuse Resources

Florida nursing home and rehabilitation facility residents and their families present the first line of defense against instances of managed care abuse and neglect. If any mistreatment is suspected, family members may attempt to resolve the matter with the facility’s management team. If they are not satisfied with the results, family members have the option to contact a number of non-profit and state regulatory agencies.

The following contains a list of agencies that can help families to investigate and substantiate claims of nursing home and/or rehabilitation facility abuse. Family members should immediately contact local police and initiate a complaint; the police will be able to tell you whether or not they can take immediate action.

The NCEA, directed by the U.S. Administration on Aging, is a resource for policy makers, social service and health care practitioners, the justice system, researchers, advocates, and families. The NCEA holds conferences, trainings, and events around the country providing education and awareness on the subject of elder abuse.
